Inbox and email-in

Paper comes to Thaw. You do not carry it.

Every family and business gets an email-in address. Forward a bill, point the scanner at it, or drop a file, and it is read and filed within a couple of minutes.

An address per family or business

leonard-family-k7m2p9qx@in.thaw.app, or the business equivalent. Scanners from Brother and Epson can send straight to it with no computer in the loop.

A sender allowlist

Your own addresses are trusted from day one. Add a carrier or a bank by domain. Mail from anyone else waits in the Inbox as "from someone new" until you say yes.

Emails with no attachment count too

An e-receipt, an order confirmation, a policy notice with the details in the body: the email itself becomes the document.

Nothing is ever stuck

A low-confidence read is filed with a "check this" flag, not held in a queue. The Inbox shows exactly where each arrival is.

Details

  • Upload from the browser, one file or many. Drag a folder and it becomes an import.
  • Forwarded mail keeps the original sender and date as context for the reader.
  • Issue a new address in one click if the old one leaks. The old one stops working immediately.
  • Coming next: a Dropbox or Google Drive folder watch for ScanSnap-style scanners, and an iOS Shortcut for the share sheet.

Questions

What file types can it read?

PDF, photos and scans (JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, TIFF) and plain text. Office files are converted in a later milestone.

Is there a size limit?

Up to 95 MB per file from the browser during early access, and larger by email or import.

What happens to spam?

Mail from an address that is not on your allowlist is held, not filed. You accept the sender once, or delete it.

Point it at the pile and walk away.

Early access is open to a small group of households and owner-run businesses. Tell us a little about your paper and we will send an invitation.
