A family vault from a finance brand
Thaw vs Quicken LifeHub
Quicken and Simplifi users offered LifeHub at a couple of dollars a month, and families who trust the brand.
LifeHub is Quicken's "family readiness system": smart folders for IDs, insurance, legal, health and travel, a Smart Add camera that recognizes a document and suggests a folder, roles for the household, and an optional sync of your Quicken data. It is inexpensive and sensible. It suggests where a document goes; Thaw reads what it says, what it obliges you to do, and what should be next to it. Details are from Quicken's public pages as of September 2026.
Side by side
| Thaw | Quicken LifeHub | |
|---|---|---|
| How paper gets in | Email-in address per family or business, scanner-to-email, browser upload, folder import, Evernote and paperless-ngx imports. Dropbox and Drive folder watch next. | Upload and the mobile Smart Add camera. No email-in or folder watch that we found. |
| What it understands | Every document is read once: category, type, title, facts with roles, the people & things it concerns, every date. Uncertain reads are flagged, never queued. | Smart Add recognizes the kind of document and pulls details from IDs; it suggests the folder. Filing is otherwise by you into pre-built folders. |
| Dates and deadlines | Every renewal, expiry, due date and notice period becomes an item with what happens if missed and what to do, from the document itself. Resolved by the next document. | Reminders and life-event checklists (moving, retirement, caregiving). |
| What is missing | Knows what a person, vehicle, property, pet or business should have on file; lists what is missing, lapsed, expired or duplicated, worst first, with where to get it. | Guided setup and checklists tell you what to gather. Not driven by what the documents say. |
| Household | Members and roles per family or business. | Owner, Co-owner (emergency access), Editors and Viewers per folder. |
| Money | Facts and obligations from statements and bills; no budgeting. | Syncs accounts, properties, bills and income from Quicken Classic or Simplifi. This is the reason to choose it. |
| Security | Per-document keys wrapped by per-account keys wrapped by a KMS master key. Identifiers encrypted with a blind index and redacted from the search index. Hash-chained audit log. Crypto-shred on delete. | AES-256 at rest, TLS in transit, two-factor sign-in required. No published key model. |
| Price | Free for the first 500 documents sorted; Personal $79 a year, Family $119. | $1.99 a month billed annually on promotion (regular $3.99), 30 GB, no free trial. Bundle with Simplifi $5.99 a month. |
